Tove Jansson was born 1914 in Helsinki, Finland. She grew upp in a family of artists - her father father Viktor Jansson was a Finland Swedish sculptor and her mother Singe Hammarsten-Jansson a Swedish graphic artist. In her autobiography she stated later that her choice of career was clear from her early years on. Tove Jansson studied art in Stockholm, Helsinki and Paris and became a well known artist and the much beloved creator of the Moomin characters and writer of internationally acclaimed books for children and adults. The conception and design behind our bookends stem from Swedish renowned industrial designer, Jan Landqvist and are made in the small town of Gnosjö in the south of Sweden.
