Karen Lee Oliver was born in Poughkeepsie , NewYork on October 1,1959. She furthered a potential careerin ballet by moving to N.Y.C. in 1973 where she studiedon scholarship with American Ballet Th eater. Ms. Olivergraduated from the State University of New York at Albanywith a B.A. degree in English Literature Major/ Th eaterArts Major in 1981.
