Zusatztext
In college, Paxton Barrilla and Mars Hudson built a strong foundation for lifelong friendship. Then their careers take them to opposite sides of the country. When they walk into a recording studio in Las Vegas, Pax as producer and Mars as clarinet player, they haven't seen each other for almost twenty years. At first, Pax's plans are simply to make the best jazz record he possibly can. Mars? He wants that, too. But what he wants more is a chance to see if long-ago friendship and a gift for working together might add up to more. The overture is a surprise, but Pax is interested. After three weeks of the kinds of conversations they never had with anyone else, are they ready to see if they've struck the right chord?
Autorenportrait
Alexandra Caluen's first book was a French Revolution historical romance written during graduate school. More recently, she turned to contemporary romance inspired by her work, family, and friend groups. Strong family and friendship ties in the LGBTQ+ community have brought stories into focus that deal with issues of inclusion, representation, and equality. Frequent themes include loss and recovery; reinvention; creative expression; and found family. Since moving cross-country to Los Angeles and learning to dance, Alexandra has enjoyed several life-changing experiences: being a dance extra in a feature film and in a narrative ballet onstage; performing with a USA Dance team in the 2012 Rose Parade; competing at the national level in American-style ballroom; and meeting countless creatives. Alexandra lives in a small purple house with her husband, a bottle of Laphroaig, a lot of books, and nine pairs of ballroom shoes. She works in patent law and reads compulsively.
