In elderly patients, the coexistence of multiple diseases, along with involutional and degenerative changes, and the presence of both physical and cognitive impairments, are considered the norm. For this reason, it is essential to distinguish between healthy ageing and conditions that require medical intervention. This distinction is crucial to avoid overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Addressing this challenge is a central focus of Geriatric Imaging, which clearly outlines both the potential and the limitations of diagnostic imaging in geriatric patients.  This Second edition builds on the success of the original edition published in 2013. The substantial addition of new information and expansion of content have made it necessary to divide the work into two independent volumes. Volume 1 comprises 25 chapters covering topics such as Epidemiology of Ageing (Socioeconomic Impact) as well as Imaging of Disorders of the Breast, Cardiovascular System, Respiratory System, Head and Neck, and Central Nervous System. It offers a comprehensive update of existing material including both text and illustrations, and introduces new chapters addressing these topics. Written by recognized experts in the field and richly illustrated, this book serves as an invaluable resource for geriatricians, radiologists, and trainees.

Giuseppe Gugliemi is Professor of Radiology at the University of Foggia, Italy. His subspecialty is musculoskeletal radiology, especially imaging of osteoporosis. He was President of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology in 2015 and Member of the IOF-ESCEO CMA committee. He has authored more than 400 journal publications (47 H-index), 200 book chapters and 15 books. Wilfred CG Peh is Clinical Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Senior Consultant at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. His subspecialty is musculoskeletal radiology. He was Founding President of the Asian Musculoskeletal Society (1999-2003) and received the International Skeletal Society Presidents medal in 2003. He has authored more than 500 journal publications (49 H-index), more than 80 book chapters and 11 books. Ali Guermazi is Professor of Radiology and Medicine, Assistant Dean of Diversity and Director of the Quantitative Imaging Center at Boston University School of Medicine. His subspecialty is musculoskeletal radiology, especially imaging of cartilage and osteoarthritis. He is one of the Founding Presidents of the International Society of Osteoarthritis Imaging and Expert radiologist to the International Olympic Committee. He is the recipient of several national and international awards. He has authored more than 700 journal publications (106 H-index), more than 100 book chapters and 12 books.
