Zusatztext
The five-volume Ius Ecclesiasticum Protestantium , written by Justus Henning Böhmer (1674-1749), a professor of law at the University of Halle, was the basis for and at the same time the highlight in the history of Protestant canon law. Following the order of the Liber Extra , Böhmer provided a basis for the application of canon law within the Protestant churches. But what were the positions taken on this work in the dissertations defended by Böhmer's students? This was the medium used to discuss important subjects at that time, since it gave an indication of the education received at the law school and of the professor's work and his methods. Based on these dissertations and their interaction with the Ius Ecclesiasticum Protestantium , Renate Schulze provides an example of the jurisprudence of Protestant canon law in Halle an der Saale.
