The book of Jeremiah elicits lively debates among biblical scholars. It has been given to us in two different editions: alongside the Hebrew text we have the much shorter Greek translation (LXX). Moreover, the book abounds with traces of an extended redaction history, among them numerous passages in deuteronomistic diction. In the present volume, Hermann-Josef Stipp assembles sixteen papers dedicated to these problems. Enquiries into the textual transmission explore the import of the textual deviations between MT and LXX and study the translation technique of the LXX. Another point of emphasis is the deuteronomistic redaction of the book, especially the criteria of its identification, its method, its internal stratification, place of provenance, theological outlook and afterlife in the subsequent development of the book.
