Water is essential for all life forms on earth (human, plants and animals). It is one of the most abundant natural resources on earth, covering three-fourths of the planet's surface. About 97% of the earth's water is saline water existed in oceans, and the remaining 3% is fresh water in the forms of ice, ground water, lakes and rivers. Less than 1% of the fresh water is within human reach,Solar-powered desalination system is one of the ways to get fresh water using saline water.

A solar-powered water desalination unit was developed and evaluated for get fresh water from saline water using solar energy, determine the optimum conditions for performance enhancement of the developed unit, investigate the energy requirements in case of using solar panels or electric generator and evaluate the developed unit economically.
