Hegel and the Codification of Law': The thesis analyzes Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegels contribution to the German codification debate in the 19th century and its potential for a modern theory of codification. According to Hegel, codification means abstraction and system formation based on the actual, with respect to the reasonable law. On this basis, codification is a constant process and as much a requirement of a civilized society of free citizens as it is a contribution to its realization.

Michael W. Müller, M.A., LL.M. (Cambridge) studierte Rechtswissenschaften und Philosophie als Stipendiat der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes in München und Cambridge, Vereinigtes Königreich. 2013 erwarb er ein Diploma in the Law of the European Union am Europäischen Hochschulinstitut in Florenz. 2018 wurde er nach Aufenthalten in Durham, NC (Duke Law School, 2015), und Cambridge, MA (Harvard Law School, 2016), mit einer Arbeit zu Verfassungsfragen der Finanzmarktstabilisierung in München zum Dr. jur. promoviert. Seit 2019 ist er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Öffentliches Recht und Kirchenrecht (Prof. Dr. Korioth) an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
