This new handbook for lay workers in the parishes offers easy access to the most important matters: How to deal with other people? What belongs to the realm of faith? How does praying help? And how to best learn to pray? What does the Bible say? How does it help me to be a good Protestant?What do you believe? Can you pray for us? How do you interpret the Biblical stories and whats the deal with Pentecost? Anyone who participates in work in the parish is put in a special position and must deal with the questions posed. One needs special knowledge and a certain measure of linguistic and creative skills to make what one believes and propounds credible to others. This handbook informs the reader in an intelligible way about the main themes of parochial work. It serves to invite and encourage readers to become engaged themselves. Because Jesus himself, as the author clearly shows, was the first and foremost religious educationist, laypersons can learn from him how to share ones faith with others.

Dr. Harmjan Dam ist seit 1991 Pfarrer der Evangelischen Kirche Hessen-Nassau und war von 1996-2015 Studienleiter am Religionspädagogischen Institut der Ev. Kirche von Kurhessen-Waldeck und Hessen-Nassau mit den Schwerpunkten Gymnasium, Schulseelsorge und Schönberger Hefte.Udo Hahn ist Direktor der Evangelischen Akademie in Tutzing.Dr. Norbert Dennerlein ist Dekan des evangelischen Dekanatsbezirks Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.Prof. Dr. Martina Steinkühler (1961-2024) war Autorin zahlreicher religionspädagogischer Fach- und Sachbücher und belletristischer Literatur. Als Professorin, Referentin und Studienleiterin lag ihr das Erzählen von Geschichten besonders am Herzen.Hermann Schulze-Berndt ist Oberstudienrat für Latein und Religion, außerdem Autor von Liedtexten, religiösen Sachbüchern, Morgenandachten im Rundfunk u.a.Gaby Deibert-Dam ist Diplom-Religions- und Gemeindepädagogin in Frankfurt a.M.
