Zusatztext

Religion is both a human internal experience and external phenomenon. Religion being part of human society, there is a great need to understand the meaning of religion as it forms the basis for human actions and fundamental decision making for most people. As a result, various scholars from different disciplines have endeavored to unveil the meaning of religion but from the point of view of their own academic backgrounds. Since religion forms a discipline in its own right, phenomenology of religion as part of religious studies is well placed as a method of grasping the meaning of religion as explained in this text. In pursuit to finding the unprejudiced meaning of religion, this book explores various categories of definitions of religion, and meaning of religion as expounded by evolutionary and projectionist theories. Scientific and theological reductionisms in relation to the meaning of religion have also been analyzed. The book presents a comprehensive introduction to Phenomenology of Religion as a course and method of intuiting the essence of religious phenomenon. It is highly recommended for undergraduate students of Religious Studies.
