For thousands of years, people have been living around the Indian Ocean and taking benefits from its natural resources and the rich opportunities for trade, interaction, resulted in maritime exploits, of a cultural and religious nature, or of domination and slavery that invariably influenced lives fundamentally. The role of European Navies have remained quite significant in maintaining dominancy at the sea during the 19th century, and it also helped in sabotaging the element of pirates as well. The Indian Ocean holds the importance of being the venue of great politico-economic activities and maritime competition.

Mr. Muhammad Anjum Saeed has an M.Phil. degree from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (2014). He has also graduated in the Chinese Language from China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) Beijing (2009). His main areas of research are China's Climate Change, Chinese Relations with neighbouring countries and its relations with Pakistan.
