Medicinal plants have been used to treat various ailments of the poor population around the world; hence the interest among researchers to know the active ingredients of certain plants has being increased. Calotropis procera has potential anti-cancer properties due to its differentiable targets and non-interference with regular pathway of apoptosis. The pharmacological properties of C. procera could be interesting for the pharmaceutical industry to develop new drugs. The medicinal properties of this plant represent it as a valuable source of medicinal compound. The study presented the information concerning the ethnobotany, pharmacology, phytochemistry, biological activity and toxicity of the Calotropis procera shrubs.
