Widowhood due to HIV and AIDS is one of the most daunting challenges facing the continent of Africa today. The author Sr Rose Njoki Mwangi in this book analyses psychosocial challenges and adjustment of widows bereaved of HIV virus partners. Numerous psychosocial challenges are highlighted such as strong grief emotions, poverty, access to both justice and support systems, lack of skills and education. However, the study revealed some unique ways widows used in their struggle to cope with the loss of a spouse and survive with HIV virus themselves. The author argues that, widows bereaved by HIV husbands need reinforcement in their sense of worth, resilience, spiritual growth, handling of the behavior problem of their teenage children.
