In todays global world, where many companies do business, their facilities are threatened by different kinds of threats inside and outside the company. With the growing role and technology dependency, threats to the corporation have never been higher. This paper will present information related to threats, vulnerabilities and risks, with accent of the security managers role, the skills that any security manager needs to dispose with, what kind of profile is needed for this activity and where is the position of safety within corporation. The new era offers increased challenges for security manager who must develop and manage cost-effective program for facilities protection. For successful achieving this aim, security manager must know and understand the threats, vulnerabilities and risks of corporate assets. This risks must be managed cost-effectively, securing minimum amount of funds for protection in the case of accepted risks.
