The present study employed a cross-sectional survey design using the quantitative approach to investigate whether there were gender, age, seniority and family status differences in perceived occupational stressors, stress and coping strategies among Ghanaian nurses in the Tema Metropolitan Area. Multi-stage sampling techniques involving simple random, purposive and convenient were used to select 205 registered nurses from the Tema Metropolitan area. The nurses were administered the Occupational Stress Inventory Revised (OSI-R) by Osipow (1998) after the instrument had been factor analytically assessed for its construct validity and reliability.
