Zusatztext
Listeria monocytogenes and other listeria species were isolated from some ready-to-eat foods sold in Kano metropolis. The United States Food and Drug Administration, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (FDACFSAN) Method of isolation was adopted. A total of 336 samples were screened. This study showed the presence of the organism in Kano. Equally, this can pose a threat by causing similar outbreaks or sporadic cases of listeriosis with high morbidity and mortality rates. More research should be conducted to ascertain the presence of the organism in other food items in Kano and Nigeria at large.
