Zusatztext
The exhibition Treasures in Dialogue brings together an exquisite selection of seventy works of art from the diverse holdings of the Schwerin Museum. Highlights from the renowned collection of Netherlandish paintings appear in nuanced interplay with treasures of decorative arts and numismatics, affording insight into the rich holdings of older art. In addition, a variety of thematic emphases reveal multiple points of connection between the genres, with explorations of aspects of human life including happiness, religion, everyday life, and trade. Like the exhibition itself, displayed in the former ducal childrens rooms in Schwerin Castle, this catalogue celebrates the uniqueness of each work of art. It is also intended to arouse curiosity in anticipation of the reopening of the Museum am Alten Garten, which is currently closed for renovation and where many of the works will once again be presented in new constellations.
