Zusatztext
This book presents a curated selection of texts, images and documents, along with a bibliography, discography and removable autograph cards from various phases of Wolfgang Müllers career, an artist who defies categorisation. In 1980s West Berlin, Wolfgang Müller and Nikolaus Utermöhlen founded the legendary post-punk band Die Tödliche Doris, which, with a constantly changing line-up, broke down the boundaries of artistic genres and media. Müller's later solo works also defy categorisation by resisting expectations of art and its recognisability. At the same time, recurring themes such as Iceland and ornithology run through his work, which are explored in a wide variety of formats - music, photography, film, radio plays, performance and literature. An oeuvre characterised by curiosity, criticism and humour, in which art and reality flow together in idiosyncratic ways. Text: Antoine Prum, Philipp Meinert, Frank Castenholz.
