Cornelia Funke is the most internationally acclaimed and best-known German childrens author. She lives in Los Angeles, California today, but her career as an author and illustrator began in Hamburg. After obtaining an MA in education followed by a degree in graphic design, she began working as a freelance illustrator of childrens books. She did not always enjoy the stories she was commissioned to illustrate and so decided to write her own. Her bestselling books include DRAGON RIDER, the WILD CHICKS series and THE THIEF LORD, which was responsible for her international breakthrough. Her INKWORLD trilogy has since made the bestseller lists all over the world. RECKLESS, the first book in a new bestseller series, was released in autumn 2010. GHOST HUNTERS is yet another exciting book the author wrote this time with young readers of 10 and over in mind. So far, she has written more than 50 books, which have been published in over 40 languages. Her popularity and influence are also reflected in the many distinctions and awards she has received.
