Sexualized violence is omnipresent and takes place wherever people meet - including the workplace. Sexism, sexual harassment and abuse of power are rooted deeply, often difficult to recognize and even more difficult to eliminate. Verena ArpsRoelle and Sebastian Arps want to change that. In their book, which is based on a german case study, they show how you can create a culture free of sexualized violence in three steps - as an employee, colleague, manager and employer. This book offers valuable and experience-based insights into the complex topic and expands your knowledge of legal, corporate and social aspects. Verena Arps-Roelle: Verena ArpsRoelle is the founder of the initiative act & protect® AGAINST SEXUALIZED VIOLENCE. As an activist and expert, she is committed to raising public awareness of the issue of sexualized violence. Her particular focus is on (entertainment) sexism, stereotypes and blame shifting. Verena uses her personal experience as a victim and survivor of sexual violence to convey preventative and interventional measures that can be implemented and have a lasting effect. Because she knows the effects of verbal, non-verbal and physical sexualized violence. That is why she dedicates herself to supporting other activists, institutions and campaigns for social and political change on a voluntary basis. As a consultant and trainer at the act & protect® Academy, which she initiated, she and her partner Sebastian Arps contribute their extensive expertise to supporting companies, non-governmental organizations, associations, educational institutions and individual concerns. Her goal is to empower people so that they can stand up for themselves and others with confidence and effectiveness, and to visibly certify organizations with the act & protect® seal. As the owner of Elementartraining, he supports companies and personalities in individual processes. His work is characterized by a creative and constructive approach that creates sustainable change on a business and personal level. With his deep understanding of structures and needs, he critically questions existing processes to help companies and people recognize and break through entrenched patterns. Sebastian's work is based on the four elements of personality: perception, emotion, cognition and behavior. These elements, comparable to the four basic elements of life on earth, only work in conjunction with each other. They answer fundamental questions: What do I perceive? What do I feel? What do I recognize? How do I behave? Sebastian has (further) developed many of the methods presented in this book for the act & protect® Academy and tested them in practice. In 2024, together with Verena Arps-Roelle, Sebastian initiated the Together for Democracy alliance, with which he is committed to democratic values - also in the corporate context.
