Zusatztext

This study makes a number of contributions to the literature on the relationship between globalization and quality of life (QOL). It uses a comprehensive measure and various specific elements of both the dependent and explanatory variables with most recent and a wider coverage of data. Chapter 3 evaluates the effects of globalization on human development, gender development and human poverty in developing countries using panel data of 126 developing countries from 1997 to 2005, which evident globalization not only promotes human and gender development but also reduces human poverty significantly. Chapter 4 tests the convergence hypothesis on QOL indicators in the Asia-Pacific applying both conventional as well as new transparent methods. Chapter 5 is the only of its kind, because there is no other such analysis that examines globalization issues in the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs) of the low income countries. The articles based on each analytical chapter has been published in the following peer review journals: Development in Practice, Journal of Globalization Studies and Asian Regional Integration Review.
