Theories are explanations, and so are stories. One explains in the same language as the question, one answers the problem with a differently configured problem. Neither a theory nor a story explains completely or adequately, theres always something missing, which gives us the reason to write more of them; but they explain in different forms - stories use characters, generally, in some way, and employ time as an element.
