Translated from Bavarian into German by Herbert Wittl and from German into English by Georg Luft. Edited by Margaret Klug Scheperle. This is the third translation project Georg Luft and Margaret Klug Scheperle have done together for edition buntehunde. (After The Devils Bet and Stumbling Stones in Regensburg.) They both share a common ancestor: Max Emanuel Klug (1868 - 1918) from Waidhaus/Germany. While his son Johann Baptist II Klug emigrated to the US in 1886 to start a new life and family there, his son Jakob Klug stayed on the land in Waidhaus. Margaret Klug Scheperle is Max Emanuels great-granddaughter, while Georg Luft is Jakobs great-grandson. This makes them 3rd degree cousins. Despite this distance in time and place, they feel rather close. They are both in the teaching business and share a love of languages.
