Zusatztext
The former imperial abbey of Corvey, founded in 822, with the almost completely preserved Carolingian westwork of the monastery church has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for more than ten years and is one of the most historically significant places in the Weserbergland region. The history of Höxter is closely linked to Corvey. However, while the Civitas Corvey was destroyed in 1265 and the abbey lost its importance, the trading town of Höxter prospered during the Renaissance period. Numerous magnificent half-timbered houses from this period have been preserved. Wilfried Henze guides readers and viewers of this richly illustrated book first through the half-timbered town of Höxter and then presents the treasures of the World Heritage Site of Corvey.
