The name of the hero of the novel by Ivan Goncharov "Oblomov" became a household name, and the concept of "Oblomovism" became common. Who is he? The author writes: "He was a man of about thirty-two or three of a kind, of medium height, of pleasant appearance, with dark gray eyes, but with the absence of any definite idea, any concentration in the facial features." Ilya Oblomov is an "extra man" in Russian society of the nineteenth century. He was used to the fact that everyone else is doing it for him, but when he got to St. Petersburg, he saw something different and could not stand the difficulties.
