William Henry Giles Kingston (1814¿1880) was an English writer and author of many adventure books for children and young adults. He was born in London, but spent much of his life in Portugal, where his family was engaged in the trading business. His debut novel, Peter the Whaler (1851), was so successful that Kingston decided to devote himself to adventure literature, creating more than 130 works over 30 years. His contribution to literature was recognized in Portugal, where he received a knighthood and a government pension.
 
 This volume includes two exciting works. The story "Adventures in Africa" ¿¿describes the dangers and unexpected trials that await an ivory trader on his journey across the African continent.
 
 In the novel "The Adventures of the Young Rajah," a young Englishman, Reginald Hamerton, goes to India in search of documents that can shed light on the secret of his origin. But the path to truth turns out to be full of dangers: intrigues, deadly fights, mysteries of the past... On his side is a faithful tame tigress, with whom he confronts insidious enemies and experiences many dizzying adventures.
