Zusatztext
Few studies have been done on how cinematic medium representation shapes the identities of men and how it enhances their cultural posturing. Lately, many filmmakers and cultural theorists have urged the need for proper gender mainstreaming as opposed to the clamour for emphasis on the girl child. This book goes a long way in revealing the varied reasons as to why the male is portrayed as the dominant figure in the selected Kenyan drama films. It takes the reader through interesting adventures of the circumstances and experiences of the male characters. The male posturing emanates from the social cultural and economic circumstances that they find themselves in. it however becomes counterproductive because it leads to gender conflicts in a society making gains towards gender equality. The book highlights various issues like economic marginalization, bestowing of superior connotations to one gender and negative portrayal of one gender leading to gender bias thus affecting gender cohesiveness. This is an interesting and insightful book for cultural analysiss and gender crusaders who might be tempted to get an answer to various issues affecting our society.
