Amines are an important class of nitrogen compounds which play an important role biochemistry of living organisms. These nitrogen containing compounds are involved in the creation of amino acids, many vitamins and neutro-transmitters such as serotonin or 5-hydroxytryptamine. Besides the amines that the human body is composed of (amino acids), humans have found a range of other uses for amines. Medicines based on amines such as Morphine and Demerol are commonly used as analgesics - medicines that relieve pain. Alkaloids are natural products associated with many biological applications are also amines. The chemistry of amines is central in organic chemistry not only in designing synthetic strategies and functional group inter-conversions; but also in synthesizing drugs and dyes. This monograph intends to cover all aspects of chemistry of amines; special emphasis has been placed on including daily life applications of this class of organic compounds where ever possible.

She is currently serving as Assistant Professor (Chemistry) at University of Education Lahore, Faisalabad Campus.
