Women empowerment is a burning issue in the context of India. Women empowerment is a sensational topic too as every day we could hear about several crimes, e.g. dowry death, marital rape, rape, gang-rape, forced sex, women trafficking, female foeticide etc., happening against women in many parts of India. In India girls are presumed most unsafe even in metropolitan cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Even in this 21st Century girl-children are not welcomed in many Indian houses; hence the mothers are forced to abort their female fetus. West Bengal is believed to be the third most populated state of India and here at least half of the population is the female counterparts. In this book the author wanted to discuss the present scenario of women empowerment in India in comparison of West Bengal. The crimes against women are growing rapidly both in India and West Bengal. Hence in this book the author with the help of several tables, data, pictures, maps and charts tried to find out the true picture of crimes against women in India and West Bengal and also tried to find out the possible way out.
