This is work is a significant contribution to the development of literature in the area of gender equality with particular reference to the Nigerian context, and an indispensable material for all those who appreciate literatures that focus on gender issues. What the scholars who have contributed the various chapters in this work have done, is to focus on particular contexts in relation to gender issues. These contexts are based on experiences within Africa, with particular reference to Nigeria. These contexts include gender issues as it concerns Boko Haram and violence against women, effective vocational and technical education for women, the portrait of women in literary texts, the Christian response to rape, language and gender and the rights of internally displaced women to education.

He is the President of the Association for the Promotion of African Studies. NDUBISI J. O. Ejikemeuwa is a Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Tansian University.
