Zusatztext

This book is about women and national minorities of Armenia during the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877-1878 by Armenian press. Discussions about the socio-political role of women started in the liberal press just before the War. Different women public organizations were getting ready for the coming War. During the period of war operations Armenian women served as nurses in the Red Cross hospitals in Yerevan and Alexandropol, as well as organized benevolent events to collect necessary facilities for military hospitals in Transcaucasia. After finishing the war women were active in education activities, social work and national enlightenment. National minorities of Armenia such as Kurds-Muslims, Yezidis, Assyrians, Greeks, Lom people (Boshas), and Caucasian Tatars (Turks) of the Russian Army also was actively involved in military operations at the Caucasus Front.
