Through an exhaustive study of British Writer Jeanette Winterson's Written on the Body (1992), Un-Writing and Inscription explores Winterson's incendiary stance towards the patriarchal precept. The book proposes to address the ways in which Jeanette Winterson deploys a plethora of subversive strategies with a view to contravening the patriarchal edict and destabilising master narratives. Predicated as it is on the transcendence of all manner of borders, Un-Writing and Inscription charts the ways in which Jeanette Winterson deconstructs the straitjacket of cultural presumptions and heterosexual conventions.

I am a second year PhD student in English Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Arts, and Humanities of Manouba (Tunisia). I also hold a master's degree in English Language, Literature and and Civilization from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tunis.
