Ibn Dureid said in the introduction to his book, explaining the reason for his name in the crowd, "Rather, we have given him this name because we chose the audience for him from the words of the Arabs, and we have brutal and condemned." Its purpose was somewhat similar to the purpose of the essential, which is to liquidate the language from impurities and exclude some of its words.
