Vinegar and honey
Zusatztext
The book "Vinegar and Honey" is a collection of articles, stories, and reflections drawn from Mohammed Al-Makwar's experiences, observations, and contemplations. He discusses the relationship between individuals and themselves, as well as the relationship between people in general and in particular, while also addressing various social phenomena in both real and virtual life. One of the most engaging articles is titled "Tyranny," in which he writes: "When Hitler sought to restore his country's dignity after its defeat in World War I, he ignited World War II, which resulted in the deaths of over 40 million people and left tens of millions disabled, injured, and displaced. He caused the destruction of his country and its division into East and West, and he humiliated his people. His story ended with his suicide, while the devastating effects of the war continued to plague the world for many years afterward." I witnessed unbearably cruel scenes in documentaries: real human beings, flesh and blood, with wretched faces, violated dignity, shattered hopes, and blood that had dried and lost its value. Their hands and feet were bound by thick, rusty shackles and chains, connecting them to those in front and behind them, as they were led to the crematoria, the gallows, and to cold-blooded execution. Each of them had a life story that ended there, and family and loved ones whose hearts were torn apart by grief and the pain of separation. And how many such true stories, steeped in cruelty, exist in every time and place, but they were never filmed, and only those who lived through them witnessed them.
