The novel revolves around the heroine and the psychological crisis she goes through as a result of her parents' separation, her being raised alone with her mother, and her father's disavowal of caring for her and her sister. Upon her divorce, her ex-husband discovers her diaries, in which she recounts the events of the novel. These diaries are a collection of personal letters the daughter sends to her father, her future daughter, and herself. He realizes that he was severely neglectful of her, failing to provide her with the support she needed and causing her to be let down, leading to the divorce.
