Developed by UN Women amid the COVID-19 crisis, in collaboration with nearly 200 colleagues from more than 50 countries, this publication aims to increase representation of women and accelerate efforts to reach gender parity in the UN system. Providing tailored guidance for personnel in the field, especially in mission settings, it supports the implementation of the UN Secretary-Generals system-wide strategy on gender parity and complements the Enabling Environment Guidelines for the UN System and related Supplementary Guidance. Focused on thematic areas such as professional and personal life integration, standards of conduct, and security and safety, each chapter reflects the field-specific challenges and opportunities identified. Offering a series of practical recommendations and relevant examples, the guidelines support an enabling working environment dependent upon and available to all.
